Normally an all-in-one grow bag — but all four species are sold out right now. The closest in-stock route is Fully Colonized Grain Spawn ($39.99) plus a Premium CVG Substrate Bag ($29.00). There is still no sterile technique for you to do, and it yields considerably more than a single bag.

Liquid culture is live mycelium suspended in nutrient broth — you inject it into sterilized grain yourself through a self-healing port. Grain spawn is that step already done and fully colonized. Spawn costs more; it also removes the step most beginners lose their grow on.

Pink Oyster. It moves fast and is forgiving, so you find out whether your conditions work within days rather than weeks. Shiitake is slower but hardy. Lion's Mane is the fussiest of the four about fresh air.

Not for colonized grain spawn going into bulk, and not for an all-in-one bag. You do want a still-air box at minimum if you are working with agar or injecting your own grain.

Because everything is made to order rather than stockpiled. When a culture line is being rebuilt at the bench it goes out of stock instead of shipping something we are not confident in. Right now that covers all four all-in-one bags, coco coir, and the Lion's Mane and Reishi grain spawn variants.

Your order is assembled at the bench after you place it, not pulled from a batch that has been sitting on a shelf. It is the single biggest factor in whether a culture arrives healthy.

It pushes filtered air in one smooth direction across the work surface, so airborne contaminants are carried away from an open vessel instead of settling into it. Every step where something of ours is opened happens in front of one.

Cultures are checked for signs of contamination before they are packed. It is a check on what leaves our bench — not a guarantee about what happens in your tent afterwards.

Email us with photos as soon as you see it, before you throw anything out. Green, black or wet-looking growth is not going to recover, and the photo tells us whether it left here that way or picked something up later.

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Your temperature, humidity and fresh-air exchange decide the grow. We control what leaves the lab and we will tell you honestly where a problem came from.
